Hajime Matsukata
Hajime “Haj” Matsukata has been fencing for over 13 years. He started as a foilist at Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York. Upon arriving at Boston College, he switched to sabre from foil. Under coach Syd Fadner, he was co-captain for 2 seasons, MVP (1998), and became an assistant coach for a season after he graduated. After moving to San Francisco, he joined Halberstadt in 1999. He won the Pacific Coast Section sabre circuit in 2003 and was a the anchor for the HFC sabre team that placed third at 2005 Summer Nationals. He became the member of the board during the 2004-5 seasons and currently serving in his third term. He is coached by Rob Handleman.
