Halberstadt Fencers' Club is one of the few privately owned and permanent fencing facilities in the United States. It was founded in 1942 by Hans Halberstadt, and continues to be one of the premier clubs in the United States with many prestigious members. We offer group classes, private instruction, and open bouting for all levels of interest and experience. Halberstadt's athletes are regularly finalists in local and national tournaments, including the U.S. National Championships, and have been members of the U.S. National Team, the U.S. teams to the World University Games, the World Championships, the Pan American Games, and the Olympics. The Club offers instruction, training and open bouting for all levels of interest and experience. Our coaching staff offers group instruction in foil, and individual lessons in foil, epee, and sabre. This broad competitive exposure (and the emphasis on the recreational and fitness aspects of fencing) is what makes Halberstadt the ideal place to begin, renew, or continue this challenging sport. Our entire facility is devoted to fencing. There are: • eleven permanent strips on wooden floors • with seven electric strips with an overhead reel system • several electric boxes for sabre • video camera set to tape a strip for training purposes • men's and women's locker rooms with showers • a lounge area with wireless internet access • video center with taping and viewing capabilities • a library of fencing tapes • AND the best fencing in the Bay Area
