Located in The Mission, San Francisco, Halberstadt Fencers' Club was founded in 1942 by Hans Halberstadt, an internationally accomplished fencer, Olympian, and coach.  Our fencers and coaches have been medalist in many local, regional and national competitions, and members of national and Olympic teams.

Modern fencing is a sport that includes history, drama, romance, and style. It is an active and physically demanding sport. Fencing was one of only 9 original sports featured in the first modern Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 1896, and fencing continues to be one of only four sports featured in every Olympic competition.

We offer children's programs, adult classes, private instruction and open bouting in foil, sabre and epée for every level of interest and experience.  Our instructors are all certified by the US Fencing Association as Professional Coaches.  Our club is a place where all levels come together to learn new skills, hone techniques, engage in friendly bouting and train for competition.

Come explore modern fencing for the first time, or continue to pursue your passion with the sport!
